Developer Notes

This was my first project on elance and it has behind a fantastic idea: use freebase which offer JSON responses and allow to search for famous people. Very well designed and very well received by the users. If you look on Google Play it has very high ratings. This app is continuously updated, so keep an eye on it as new features are coming.

Have you ever caught yourself wondering "Hey, is that person still alive?" Well ‘Are They Dead?’ let’s you easily search for your favorite celebrity or any famous person and answer that very question. You can also choose to receive a notification if your favorite celebrity dies or has a birthday!

Just Released: NOTIFICATIONS! Keep track of your favourite celebrities and be the first to get notified if they die! Get notified of their birthday or the anniversary of their death as well. The notifications are completely customizable.

  • View information on any famous person, including their age, birthday, the date they died, cause of death and a short description of them. Our database has pretty much everyone, in fact, I dare you to not find someone in our app!
  • Can’t remember the persons name? Search from films, TV shows and even bands to find the person your looking for. It’s so easy to find someone! And quicker than Wikipedia!
  • Save your favorite celebrities to your "My Favorites" list by pressing the star on their profile page, then use the notifications to get notified when one of them dies or has a birthday.
  • Search by date. Find out the people might have died today, on your birthday, or who has the same birthday as you. Use the "Any year" function to see which famous person either died, or was born, on any given day.
  • See a list of the most recently deceased. Always up-to-date.
  • Search from millions of entries! Our information is updated constantly.

      • Ba stie. Daca cauti dupa Michael Jackson si din lista alegi See More Results… sau apesi pe butonul Search, o sa iti apara o lista cu multi Michael Jackson. Fiecare are pentru ce e Noatable. In cazul cantaretului se pare ca e Noatable for “Award discipline” ceea ce e destul de ciudat :). Iar la detalii se poate vedea ca a murit din cauza “Cardin arrest”. Atentie, tot continutul vine de pe Freebase, care e un soi de database accesibil tuturor, deci informatiile s-ar putea sa nu fie chiar 100% accurate. Defapt, ce e ciudat e ca Whitney Huston chiar in ziua in care a murit a fost actualizata starea ei. Deci, practic comunitatea se ocupa de continut.
